Nationals' Trea Turner starting in center field versus Cleveland
Washington Nationals infielder Trea Turner will start in center field Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians.
Turner played a little center field in the minors, but this will be his first start there in the big leagues. He could see more time in center with Ryan Zimmerman (rib cage) back from the disabled list, which allows Daniel Murphy to slide back to his normal second base position. Turner will hit leadoff Tuesday, while Ben Revere will shift to left field and hit ninth, allowing Jayson Werth to serve as the designated hitter.
Turner has played 10 games for the Nats this season (41 plate appearances) and is slashing .282/.317/.462 with four stolen bases, three triples, and a .329 wOBA. With the Nationals getting a combined .263 wOBA out of the center field position this season, which ranks second-worst, it's possible that continued good play from Turner will earn him the starting gig there for the rest of the season.
