Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu (elbow) likely to miss his Wednesday start
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu is likely to miss Wednesday's scheduled start against the Washington Nationals due to discomfort in his elbow, Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball hears.
Ryu returned from shoulder surgery just before the All-Star break. In his first start back, he allowed six runs over just 4 2/3 innings. He is scheduled to be evaluated by team doctors and more should be known on his status soon. The Dodgers have not announced who they plan to start in his stead on Wednesday.
Ryu's 2014 season was very encouraging, as he posted a 3.17 SIERA and 22.03 percent strikeout rate, but our numbers are not high on him this year. We currently forecast him for a 4.14 ERA and 14.8 percent strikeout rate over the remainder of the season.
