Houston Astros catcher Evan Gattis is not in Monday's lineup against the Oakland Athletics.
Jason Castro will take over behind the plate for Houston, with A.J. Reed owning DH responsibilities against Oakland right-hander Kendall Graveman. Gattis has struggled to a .147 average (5-for-34) this month with just one home run. Alex Bregman and/or Yulieski Gourriel could pose a threat to his playing time if the struggles continue.
For the year, Gattis owns a .215/.279/.422 slash and .295 wOBA (all career-lows) in 262 plate appearances this season. He's managed to knock 13 dingers, though, with our models projecting him for nine more over the remainder of the year with a .312 wOBA.
