Cleveland's Yan Gomes (shoulder) to miss one-to-two months
The Cleveland Indians placed catcher Yan Gomes on the 15-day disabled list with a separated right shoulder.
Gomes suffered an AC joint separation after an awkward fall running to first base on Sunday. Fortunately, he won't need surgery and could even make it back prior to the end of the season. For the time being, Chris Gimenez and Roberto Perez will be responsible for catching duties. Our models give Cleveland a 92.9 percent chance of making the playoffs, so it's likely they'll be playing in October, giving Gomes enough time to return to action again this year.
Gomes is slashing .165/.198/.313 with a .219 wOBA on the year, which represent career-lows across the board. Through 262 appearances at the plate, he's recorded eight home runs and 32 RBI's. Gimenez owns a .221 wOBA in 92 plate appearances this season and Perez owns a .276 wOBA in just 15 appearances at the plate in 2016.
