Indians' Yan Gomes diagnosed with a separated shoulder
Cleveland Indians catcher Yan Gomes was diagnosed with a separated right shoulder after an awkward fall at first base Sunday.
"The X-rays showed it's a dislocated shoulder," Gomes said after the game, his right arm in a sling. "There is something sticking out of it right now." Gomes toppled over just before reaching first base in the fifth inning on Sunday, going head over cleats, with his right shoulder suffering the majority of the fall. He's expected to be placed on the Indians' 15-day disabled list Monday, while Roberto Perez will be recalled to fill in.
Gomes is slashing .165/.198/.313 with a .219 wOBA on the year, which represent career-lows across the board. Through 262 appearances at the plate, he's recorded eight home runs and 32 RBI's.
