Shin-Soo Choo (back) out of Rangers' lineup on Friday
Texas Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo (back) is out of the starting lineup Friday against the Chicago Cubs.
Choo has been battling lower back issues recently, and the four days off granted by the All-Star break apparently weren't enough for him to recover. Ryan Rua will be taking care of responsibilities in left field while batting sixth against Cubs righty Kyle Hendricks.
Choo has hit well when he's been on the field this season, slashing .274/.388/.496 with seven home runs, four stolen bases and a .385 wOBA in 137 plate appearances. Our models project him to hit .250/.347/.435 with five home runs, three steals and a .342 wOBA over the rest of the year.
