Braves' Tyler Flowers out four-to-six weeks with broken hand

Atlanta Braves catcher Tyler Flowers has been diagnosed with a fracture in his left hand and will be out four-to-six weeks.

What It Means:

The injury happened on Saturday, which was the Braves' second-to-last game before the All-Star break. A.J. Pierzynski -- who is in his 19th season in the big leagues -- will have to carry most of the load at catcher when the second-half begins. Flowers, 30, was slashing .253/.343/.425 with seven home runs and 21 RBI's in 53 games (198 plate appearances) this year.

Flowers' absence will big a big blow to the Braves, as he owned a .337 wOBA this season, compared to a mark of just .207 for Pierzynski (185 plate appearances). We currently project A.J. Pierzynski to hit .243/.285/.324 with a .264 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
