J.D. Martinez (elbow) hit off a tee Thursday for Tigers
Detroit Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez (elbow) hit off a tee with a fungo bat on Thursday.
Three weeks ago, Martinez fractured his right elbow and this is his first time taking swings since. The initial timetable to return was four-to-six weeks, but with this being his first time swinging, it's looking like the six week return is more realistic. Steven Moya -- and his .361 wOBA this season -- has been playing in right field during Martinez's absence.
Martinez was having a productive season prior to getting hurt, slashing .286/.358/.520 with 12 home runs and a .369 wOBA in 285 plate appearances. We project him to hit .276/.351/.502 with 11 taters and a .362 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
