Tyrell Jenkins goes 4 2/3 innings in first start for Braves
Atlanta Braves pitcher Tyrell Jenkins tossed 4 2/3 innings of one-run ball Wednesday in his first major league start.
Jenkins was tagged for back-to-back ropes to lead off the bottom of the fifth frame, but was stellar until that point. The 23-year-old right-hander made the transition from starter to reliever last month with Triple-A Gwinnett, but Atlanta might be best served to let Jenkins work in their rotation for the second half of the season.
In the minors this season, Jenkins owns a 2.91 ERA and 16.20 strikeout percentage across 65 total innings of work (14 games). He is 6-3 across nine starts.
