Pirates' Francisco Cervelli (hand) caught simulated session Tuesday

Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli (hand) caught 61 pitches in a simulated session on Tuesday.

What It Means:

It was part of pitcher Ryan Vogelsong's four-inning simulated game. Cervelli hit in the cage after catching and drew positive reviews. "There were full hacks in the cage today," manager Clint Hurdle said. "It was full intensity batting practice today." Cervelli, out since June 11 with a fractured hand, could be ready for the Pirates' first game out of the All-Star break.

Our algorithms project Cervelli for 156 more plate appearances in 2016, which we believe will be to the tune of a .261/.351/.343 slash line, with a wOBA of .308, including two more home runs, as well as another 12 RBI's and 18 scores.
