Jerad Eickhoff stuns the Braves in Phillies win
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff struck out eight while limiting the Atlanta Braves to just two runs over 7 2/3 innings in an 8-2 victory Monday.
Braves shortstop Erick Aybar took Eickhoff deep in the first and Nick Markakis knocked him out with an RBI single in the eighth. In between that, Eickhoff was masterful, holding Atlanta to just five hits and three walks. Since the beginning of June, Eickhoff boasts a 2.25 ERA over seven starts. He'll carry a 3.30 ERA into a start at the Colorado Rockies this weekend.
Prior to today's action, Eickhoff had a 4.05 SIERA and a 3.38 ERA, which indicates a slight regression may be coming. Indeed, our algorithm projects Eickhoff to toss a 4.41 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 17.9 percent strikeout rate over 81 2/3 more innings pitched.
