New York Yankees pitcher Chad Green will start Friday against the Cleveland Indians.
Green had a spot start on Sunday against the San Diego Padres, but pitched so well -- eight strikeouts across six innings, allowing one run -- that he earned another start. If Green pitches well again against Cleveland, current starter Nathan Eovaldi and his 5.54 ERA could be bumped out of the rotation.
Green is a 25 year-old rookie who made his big league debut this season. He has a 4.09 ERA in 11 innings pitched this season, but his 2.27 xFIP is significantly lower, and he owns an impressive 30.4 strikeout percentage. The current league average is 21.0 percent.
