Jonathan Papelbon (intercostal) returns to Nationals on Monday
Washington Nationals right-handed pitcher Jonathan Papelbon was activated from the 15-day disabled list.
He returns to the bullpen for Washington on Monday after being on the sidelines three weeks with an intercostal strain. Shawn Kelley has been taking care of the majority of things in that span, but Papelbon will likely step back into his ninth-inning role fairly quickly.
Papelbon turned in two scoreless rehab appearances at Double-A Harrisburg and currently owns a 3.28 ERA with a 18.63 strikeout percentage across 24 2/3 innings with the Nationals this season.
