Cincinnati Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton (concussion) is back in the starting lineup Thursday against the Washington Nationals.
Apparently, he cleared the concussion protocol after getting smacked in the face with a ball during Wednesday's contest against the Chicago Cubs. Hamilton will hit seventh for the Reds while Gio Gonzalez takes the mound for Washington.
Hamilton has been oft-injured this season, but he is putting together a better slash line this year than in the past, hitting .255/.296/.385 with a .301 wOBA, 19 stolen bases (fifth-most in the majors) and 33 runs in 220 plate appearances. We project him to cool off to a much lower .281 wOBA over the rest of the season, but we expect the 25-year-old to steal 18 more bags in that span.
