Gavin Floyd expected to miss 8-12 weeks for Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Gavin Floyd is expected to miss eight to 12 weeks with a partial tear of his lat muscle.

What It Means:

This unfortunately means that Floyd is likely done for the season and his inability to avoid the injury bug continues. If his season is in fact over, he'll finish the year with a 4.28 xFIP in 31 innings of relief and a solid 24.2 strikeout percentage (league average for relievers is currently 22.5 percent).

Floyd was limited to just five starts in 2013, nine in 2014, and threw only 13 1/3 innings of relief last season for the Cleveland Indians. He owns a career 4.12 xFIP and 18.4 strikeout percentage in 1,250 innings pitched.
