Chris Coghlan is getting the day off Monday night against the Rockies, giving way to Chris Denorfia, who is playing left field and batting sixth.
What It Means:
The Cubs are matched up against Jorge De La Rosa, a left-handed pitcher. Coghlan is hitting .125/.250/.167 with a .207 wOBA against left-handed pitchers, essentially an automatic out, which makes Denorfia's regular presence against lefties a necessity. Denorfia is hitting .275/.356/.378 with a .318 wOBA against left-handed pitching this year, which isn't amazing, but certainly an upgrade over Coghlan. Denorfia is an ok bargain option tonight on a short slate.
