Cincinnati Reds centerfielder Billy Hamilton exited Wednesday's game against the Chicago Cubs in the bottom of the first inning after he was hit in the head by a fly ball.
Fellow outfielder Adam Duvall and Hamilton were both going after a fly ball off the bat of Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, and the ball ultimately hit Hamilton in the head/face. He was on the ground for a couple of minutes before eventually walking off the field through the bullpen. The Reds will surely send him for tests to rule out a concussion. Tyler Holt replaced him in center field.
Hamilton has been oft-injured this season, but he is putting together a better slash line this year than in the past, hitting .255/.296/.385 with a .301 wOBA, 19 stolen bases and 33 runs. We project him to cool off to a much lower .287 wOBA over the rest of the season, but he should steal 18 more bases in that span.
