Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The durable Perez will get a rare breather, with Drew Butera taking his place on Tuesday. Butera has been excellent in limited playing time this season, posting a .392 wOBA in 54 plate appearances.
Perez is slashing .297/.330/.520 with 12 home runs and a .358 wOBA (third-best among catchers) in 261 plate appearances this season. Our models currently project him to hit .267/.311/.448 with 11 home runs and a .323 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
