Xander Bogaerts will get night off Tuesday as Red Sox play Tampa
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts will get the day off on Tuesday versus the Tampa Bay Rays according to manager John Farrell, who appeared on WEEI Tuesday afternoon.
Bogaerts has missed only one game this season for the Sox, so he is overdue for a rest. The shortstop is having a marvelous season, and is currently ranked third in the league in hitting behind only Jose Altuve and Daniel Murphy. Marco Hernandez is expected to start at shortstop on Tuesday night.
Bogaerts has an outstanding .393 wOBA with nine homers, 50 RBI's and 59 runs scored in 347 plate appearances. Our models project him to got through a slight decline over the second half, posting a .345 wOBA, six homers and 37 additional RBI's.
