New York Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez might only start against lefties going forward, believes George A. King III of the New York Post.
"He has struggled against some right-handers," manager Joe Girardi admitted. "We talked about giving Carlos [Beltran] some DH days in this long stretch and I would be more inclined to do it against right-handers than left-handers." Beltran served as the DH on Sunday against Minnesota Twins right-hander Tyler Duffey, with Rodriguez getting the day off. Turning 41 in a month, the three-time American League-MVP hasn't produced much this season after he exceeded expectations last year in his return from a yearlong suspension for PED's.
Rodriguez has been futile against right-handers this year, hitting .200 in 123 plate appearances. Against lefties, he has hit a decent .275 in 55 appearances at the plate.
