Yankees designate Ike Davis for assignment
The New York Yankees designated first baseman Ike Davis for assignment on Saturday.
Mark Teixiera was activated from the disabled list on Saturday and is in the lineup, so Davis was designated for assignment to make way for Tex. Davis told reporters that he might consider staying with New York if he passes through waivers unclaimed.
Davis was 3-for-14 with a slash line of .214/.267/.214 during his brief stint with the Yankees. He had one RBI and two runs scored on three singles.
