Padres' Jon Jay out again Saturday
San Diego Padres outfielder Jon Jay (wrist, forearm) remains out of the Padres' lineup Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds.
Jay has missed four straight games with a wrist injury, and has a pending date with a hand specialist in San Diego next week. It remains a possibility that he spends some time on the disabled list. He continues to deal with soreness after being hit by a pitch last Sunday. Saturday will be his fifth straight game missed.
Jay has been a pleasant surprise this season, slashing .296/.345/.407 with two home runs and a .333 wOBA in 291 plate appearances. Our models don't expect the production to last over the remaining course of the year however, currently projecting him to hit .245/.298/.331 with two home runs and a .271 wOBA in 296 appearances at the plate.
