Cardinals' Mike Matheny declines to commit to Trevor Rosenthal
St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny declined to commit to pitcher Trevor Rosenthal after he gave up a walk-off three-run homer in Friday's loss to the Seattle Mariners.
Rosenthal has been atrocious in the month of June. He is 0-2 with two blown saves and a 14.14 ERA in his last 11 appearances. Matheny would not commit to him in the future after he didn't retire a batter on Friday and gave up a walkoff homer to Adam Lind. St. Louis could be close to making a change for the ninth inning.
Rosenthal has a 5.63 ERA and 2.03 WHIP over 24 innings pitched this season. He has 14 saves with three blown saves.
