Johnny Giavotella swats a two-bagger in Angels' loss to Oakland

Los Angeles Angels second baseman Johnny Giavotella went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI single in Thursday's loss to the Oakland Athletics. Giavotella notched an RBI single off Kendall Graveman in the fourth inning. He would later uncork a leadoff ninth-inning double and come around to score on a two-run homer by Shane Robinson, but the Angels would fail to rage against the remainder of the dying of the light, ultimately falling 5-4.

What It Means:

Giavotella did his part for the Angels, hitting an RBI single in the fourth off Kendall Graveman, before leading off with a double and tagging home in the ninth. Unfortunately, that was all she wrote, as the Halos went on to lose 5-4.

Giavotella is working with a .272/.291/.412 slash, six homers and 25 RBI's over 240 plate appearances this season.
