Pirates recall Wilfredo Boscan from Triple-A
The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled pitcher Wilfredo Boscan from Triple-A Indianapolis.
What It Means:
This was an expected move and Boscan will start Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants, replacing Juan Nicasio in the rotation. The 26-year-old right-hander posted a 3.33 ERA and a 33/4 strikeout-to-walk-ratio across 48 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season.
Boscan pitched 12 1/3 innings of relief for the Pirates earlier in the season, posting a 2.92 ERA (5.24 xFIP) and just a 12.0 strikeout percentage (league average is 21.1 percent). He can't be left on the waiver wire for now.
