Nate Karns surrenders five runs in five frames, Mariners fall to Detroit
Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Nate Karns allowed five runs on seven hits over five innings against the Detroit Tigers on Monday.
Karns fanned six while issuing three free passes, and he served up a two-run tater to Miguel Cabrera among his seven hits allowed. He's given up just seven moon shots in 14 outings this year, a step forward after allowing 19 four-baggers last season. Next on the docket is a date with the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday in an interleague matchup.
The right-hander remains winless for the month of June and is 5-2 overall (14 starts) with a 4.38 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 76 innings. He currently ranks 39th with a 2.31 nERD this season.
