Washington's Stephen Strasburg (back) hoping he can make his next start
Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg was scratched from Monday's scheduled start against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to an upper back strain, but he is hopeful of being able to make his next start.
The late scratch spoiled his much-anticipated matchup with Dodgers' ace Clayton Kershaw. Yusmeiro Petit filled in admirably, but the Nationals fell, 4-1.
As is always the case with Strasburg, when he's healthy, he's the best. He owns a 2.87 SIERA, 31.9 percent strikeout rate and 6.5 percent walk rate through 93 innings this season. Strasburg did deal with neck and back ailments last season, as well.
