Red Sox outright Rusney Castillo to Pawtucket
The Boston Red Sox sent outfielder Rusney Castillo outright to Triple-A Pawtucket.
The Red Sox placed Castillo on waivers over the weekend and he passed through unclaimed. The Cuban 28-year-old owns a slash of just .262/.301/.379 in 337 career plate appearances in the Major Leagues after signing a $72.5 million contract with the Red Sox in 2014. Castillo will begin playing in games for Pawtucket this week.
Castillo's numbers in Triple-A this season aren't any better than his numbers in the big leagues. He hit .245/.304/.320 with a .290 wOBA and a .075 Isolated Power in 161 plate appearances.
