Rays would be open to reunion with Carl Crawford
The Tampa Bay Rays would consider a reunion with outfielder Carl Crawford, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Crawford struggled to a slash of .185/.230/.235 in 87 plate appearances this season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, before the club released him on June 13. It doesn't look like the 34-year-old has much left in the tank, but he's an inexpensive outfielder for the Rays, who don't have money to spend and need outfield depth. Tampa Bay drafted Crawford in 1999 and he played his first nine big league seasons with the Rays, which included four All-Star selections. If nothing else, maybe he can put a few more fans in the seats in Tampa.
Crawford's .208 wOBA with the Dodgers ranks third-worst among hitters with at least 80 plate appearances this season and his power was nonexistent. He posted just a .049 Isolated Power.
