Mitch Harris undergoes Tommy John surgery for Cardinals
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Mitch Harris has undergone Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.
Ever since spring training, Harris had been experiencing issues with his right elbow, and last week was finally diagnosed with a torn UCL. This will likely keep him out until the second half of next season. Harris recorded a 3.67 ERA in 27 innings pitched with the Cardinals in 2015.
Harris' xFIP was much higher at 5.49 and he had a strikeout-to-walk ratio of just 1.15. Luckily for the Cardinals, their bullpen has been performing well without Harris this season. Their 3.60 xFIP currently ranks third-best.
