Darian Thompson working with first-team for Giants

New York Giants rookie safety Darian Thompson worked with the first-team defense for "most of OTA's and minicamp."

What It Means:

"That kind of probably says a lot that he is up there with those guys," defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo said. "I said this before, he is still doing it, he is assertive, he is vocal, he is not afraid to make a mistake." The Giants have a trio of young safeties coming back from injury, but they would almost certainly like the rookie to win the job next to 2015 second-rounder Landon Collins. Nat Berhe could be Thompson's primary competition.

The Giants ranked 24th in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play in 2015.
