Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez has been shut down after having another setback with his surgically-repaired right shoulder.
Alvarez felt soreness during a rehab start on Saturday and has now had two different setbacks in about a month. He will head to Oakland on Tuesday to get examined by the team's medical staff before deciding the next move for the A's righty.
Alvarez has pitched 18 2/3 innings in Triple-A this season, and has posted a 3.86 ERA and a strikeout rate if 21.8 percent.
