Cleveland Indians catcher Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Chicago White Sox.
It's just a routine day off for Gomes. Chris Gimenez is starting behind the plate and batting seventh.
Maybe a breather will help Gomes turn things around, as he is struggling to a slash of .167/.204/.339 with seven home runs and a .232 wOBA in 191 plate appearances this season. Our models expect things to get better over the remaining course of the season, but not by much, forecasting Gomes to hit .229/.273/.394 with nine home runs and a .283 wOBA.
