Phillies recall Severino Gonzalez from Triple-A
The Philadelphia Phillies recalled pitcher Severino Gonzalez from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Gonzalez owns a 3.07 ERA and 34/8 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 44 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season. He'll serve as a middle reliever for the Phillies.
Gonzalez made his Major League debut last season for the Phillies, starting seven games and pitching 30 2/3 innings. He was knocked around -- his ERA was 7.92 -- but his xFIP was much lower (4.26). Gonzalez will try to help improve a Philadelphia bullpen that has the 10th worst xFIP this season at 4.17.
