Marlins' Justin Nicolino allows five runs in a losing effort
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Justin Nicolino was tagged for five earned runs on 10 hits in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the San Diego Padres.
The Padres got to Nicolino in the second, fourth and fifth innings, and he had only three strikeouts in his short day of work. He will get a home start against the Colorado Rockies his next time out.
Nicolino owns a 5.17 ERA and 1.54 WHIP through 55 2/3 innings this season. Our models project him to post a 4.76 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 64 1/3 innings over the remainder of this season.
