Athletics' Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) will make rehab start Saturday
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) is slated to make a rehab start at Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.
Alvarez is scheduled to pitch five or six innings. It has been a long, long recovery trail for the 26-year-old right-hander, who initially underwent a major surgery on his right shoulder last July. He was close to returning in May, but then suffered a setback and had to be shut down again.
Before going down with his most recent injury, Alvarez had an ERA of 3.45 through 15 2/3 innings pitched in Triple-A this season.
