Joey Votto joining Reds bench Thursday afternoon
Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto is not in the lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against left-hander MacKenzie Gore and the Washington Nationals.
Votto left the yard for the second time in as many starts on Wednesday, but the lefty hitter will sit versus the Nationals' southpaw. Kevin Newman will cover first base and leadoff duty for the Reds.
numberFire’s models project Newman ($2,600) for 10.3 FanDuel points on Wednesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Reds' implied total is 4.59 and the game total is 9.5. Gore has a 4.48 ERA and 5.10 xERA this season, with a 46.6% hard-hit rate, 27.9% strikeout rate, and 10.2% walk rate.
