Oakland Athletics catcher Stephen Vogt is not in Monday's lineup for the series opener against the Texas Rangers.
Vogt will sit for the second consecutive day with another left-hander on the mound, this time Cesar Ramos for Texas. Josh Phegley will start behind the plate and bat sixth while catching Sean Manaea.
Vogt is slashing .275/.307/.425 with five home runs and a .315 wOBA in 205 plate appearances this season. His 3.4 walk percentage ranks 10th worst among qualified hitters. We project Vogt to hit .255/.308/.415 with 10 home runs and a .310 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
