Tigers' Victor Martinez's MRI comes back with no major issues
Detroit Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez underwent an MRI on his left knee on Monday.
Martinez hurt his knee on Sunday, and with Martinez having a history of knee issues, the MRI was ordered. No major damage was found, and the Tigers are considering him day-to-day as of now. J.D. Martinez will act as the designated hitter against the White Sox, while Mike Aviles will get the start in right field.
Martinez is having an impressive start to the season, slashing .333/.381/.519 with nine home runs and a .382 wOBA in 236 plate appearances. His 2.32 nERD ranks 32nd best. Our models currently project Martinez to hit .271/.324/.422 with 10 home runs and a .323 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
