The Chicago White Sox designated shortstop Jimmy Rollins for assignment.
What It Means:
The White Sox called up top shortstop prospect Tim Anderson on Friday, spelling the end for Rollins. Rollins has posted poor triple-slash numbers for two seasons now, and one has to wonder just how much juice is left in the veteran's bat. He had just 15 hits in his last 75 at-bats.
Rollins was hitting just .221/.295/.329 with two homers and eight RBI over 149 at-bats in 2016.
