White Sox' David Robertson notches 14th save on Thursday
Chicago White Sox pitcher David Robertson was a bit shaky in the ninth inning on Thursday, but managed to fire a scoreless frame and escape with his 14th save of the season.
Robertson came on with a two-run advantage and quickly retired the first two hitters that he faced. Back-to-back singles by Jayson Werth and Bryce Harper put the potential winning run at the plate in the form of Daniel Murphy, but Robertson was able to retire him on a fly ball on the first pitch of the at-bat.
Robertson has now successfully converted 14 of his first 16 save chances while registering a 4.18 ERA and 28/11 K/BB ratio over 23 2/3 innings. We project him to post 18 saves and a 2.79 ERA over 41.9 more innings for 2016.
