Washington Nationals utility player Ildemaro Vargas is not in the lineup for Tuesday's series opener against left-hander Tommy Henry and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Vargas started at shortstop on Sunday versus the Philadelphia Phillies and went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run. C.J. Abrams will reclaim shortstop from Vargas on Tuesday and hit ninth.
