Angels' Andrelton Simmons gets two hits in first rehab game

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons (thumb) went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored Monday in his first minor league rehab game with High-A Inland Empire.

What It Means:

Simmons, who is coming back from a UCL tear in his thumb, played five innings in his return to action. The defensive wizard is expected to play three straight games before potentially joining the Angels as soon as this weekend.

With an elite glove and suspect bat, Simmons will likely always be a better real-life player than fantasy asset. We project him to post a .266 wOBA with two jacks and two steals over the remainder of the campaign.
