Cartilage tear sends Yankees' Mark Teixeira to disabled list
The New York Yankees placed first baseman Mark Teixeira on the 15-day disabled list with an articular cartilage tear in his right knee.
The Yankees haven't announced a timetable yet but it sounds like Teixeira could be facing a lengthy absence. New York has called up Chris Parmelee to take his place on the active roster. Rob Refsnyder filled in at first base Friday and could see more time there in the future.
The 36-year-old Teixeira has had a miserable year, slashing just .180/.271/.263 with three homers in 167 at-bats.
