Giancarlo Stanton (side) out of Marlins' lineup Thursday
Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (side) is not in the starting lineup Thursday versus the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Stanton returned from a week-long absence on Wednesday night but went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts. He may still be feeling some discomfort in his right side. Cole Gillespie is in right field and Justin Bour is batting cleanup against righty Juan Nicasio.
Stanton's power has been on display this season -- he has 12 home runs and a .261 ISO -- but he is slashing just .210/.324/.471 with a .340 wOBA in 186 plate appearances. Our models currently project him to hit .249/.347/.512 with 24 home runs and a .363 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
