Cubs' Hector Rondon (back) throws Thursday, reports no pain

Chicago Cubs closer Hector Rondon (back) threw on the field Thursday morning and reported feeling fine.

What It Means:

It's still unclear whether he is going to be available for Thursday afternoon's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the throwing session is a pretty strong indication his back discomfort is not serious. Pedro Strop could fill in at closer if need be.

Rondon has a solid 2.24 nERD on the year with a 42.86 percent strikeout rate through 19 appearances. His 1.04 ERA and 1.14 SIERA are both on pace to be career bests. If healthy, he should continue to rack up saves as the closer for the top team in our power rankings.
