Twins' Phil Hughes getting a spot start Thursday with Kyle Gibson (back) out
Minnesota Twins pitcher Phil Hughes will make a spot start for the Twins on Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Rays.
What It Means:
This was supposed to be Kyle Gibson's return to the rotation, but he's battling a stiff back.
Hughes was shifted to the bullpen earlier this week but has not been used yet in a relief role. He owns a rough 5.74 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 53 1/3 innings this season.
