Steve Pearce (elbow) leaves Rays' game early again

Tampa Bay Rays left fielder/second baseman Steve Pearce made an early exit Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals after aggravating his right elbow.

What It Means:

Pearce has been dealing with flare-ups of inflammation in the elbow for much of the season, and a check swing Monday followed by a dive for a grounder Tuesday have left him in bad shape. We'd expect some off days to be coming. Pearce was 0-for-2 on Tuesday night before getting replaced at second base by Taylor Motter.

Pearce is hitting .298/.389/.532 in 144 plate appearances this season and has recorded eight home runs and 20 RBI's. Our models currently project him to post a .333 wOBA with a .246/.325/.455 slash in 277 appearances at the plate over the remainder of the season.
