Mets' Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) expected to begin rehab assignment soon
New York Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) could begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend.
D'Arnaud, who has been out since late April with a strained right rotator cuff, resumed baseball activities last week in Florida. The big test will be game action. Assuming he can avoid setbacks, the Mets could send Kevin Plawecki to Triple-A upon his return and keep Rene Rivera as the backup.
D'Arnaud played just 13 games this season (52 plate appearances) before getting hurt, slashing .196/.288/.261 without a home run and a .255 wOBA.
