Framber Valdez starting Opening Day for Astros

Houston Astros pitcher Framber Valdez has been named the Opening Day starter versus the Chicago White Sox.

What It Means:

The Astros named Valdez the starter after he opted out of playing in the World Baseball Classic. The 29-year-old left-hander twirled an impressive 2.82 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 194 strikeouts over 201 1/3 innings in 31 starts last season.

numberFire's models project Valdez to score 33.5 FanDuel points on Opening Day. He's expected to record a 3.22 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over the course of the season, with 179 strikeouts and 63 walks.
