Houston Astros pitcher Framber Valdez has been named the Opening Day starter versus the Chicago White Sox.
The Astros named Valdez the starter after he opted out of playing in the World Baseball Classic. The 29-year-old left-hander twirled an impressive 2.82 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 194 strikeouts over 201 1/3 innings in 31 starts last season.
numberFire's models project Valdez to score 33.5 FanDuel points on Opening Day. He's expected to record a 3.22 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over the course of the season, with 179 strikeouts and 63 walks.
